The client is then free to evaluate each fire sprinkler system and select the design that provides the optimum fire safety solution. All types of fixed fire protection systems are designed, supplied, manufactured and installed to meet standards and legislation. Calculations, flow tests and systems modifications can be provided to meet your company's needs.

Fire sprinkler systems have proved themselves as an effective means of providing fire protection activating at a crucial point early in the fires progress.

Fire Officials, fire safety consultants and specialists have for many years realised the effectiveness of fire sprinkler systems when planned into the fire strategy and emergency planning of new homes and businesses.

In the unwantend event of a fire, the sprinkler system will detect the fire and smoke, triggering a signal to the local fire service. The sprinklers instantly start to damp the fire with a constant spray of water, helping people to escape and allowing the fire fighters who attend the incident. Fire sprinkler systems make that vital difference from the moment a fire takes hold to people becoming trapped behind flames. They really are a worthwhile part of any fire safety system.

Water Supplies

For a fire sprinkler system to perform optimally, it is absolutely essential that a strong, constant water supply is available. MacDonald Martin can help to find out how good your water supply is and make recommendations should it not be good enough.

If the supply is taken from the public mains, it is safe to use as long the supply keeps a consistant pressure. These days, with all the awareness of our environment, water companies are reducing mains pressure to cut down on leaks meaning a modern sprinkler system has no guarantees that the supply will be sufficient. We can help to remedy this by installing a dedicated water supply (wet riser or dry riser)

Water for a fire sprinkler system may be taken directly from the Public Service Main provided it is reliable and meets the flow and pressure requirements of the system. However many water supply companies are reducing the pressure within there supplies to help minimise water losses due to leakagce and in most cases suppliers will not guarantee delivery pressures.

For this reason, MacDonald Martin will install suitable water storage tanks and pumps only if you need them.

Pressure Check

Pressure Check is a system which uses a pump to boost the incoming water supply pressure without the danger of causing damage to the supply pipework. We provide a full assessment of your business or home to identify if there is a need for this to supply your fire sprinkler system.
