Gaseous Supression
Systems
A gaseous suppression or fire suppression system is a method of using gases to starve a fire of oxygen or heat which are two of the essential factor for combustion to occur. The three factors that if met will form a fire are the right combination of oxygen, fuel (combustible i.e wood) and heat.
In the event of fire conditions and using a combination of various types of electrical smoke detectors, the gaseous suppression system can be programmed to initiate a first stage alarm to warn occupants of the danger. Upon the operation of a 2nd different type of detector, the alarm sound changes to warn of a discharge of gas into the area following a suitable delay period.
The main use of this type of gas suppression system is in areas of high risk in an electrical sense. Used as fire protection for electronic items like computer systems, servers, vital communications hardware, data storage/disaster recovery systems or archives. On detection of fire the gas is discharged throughout the protected space, extinguishing the fire with minimal collatoral damage to the high value equipment.
We also supply and fit gaseous suppression systems for use in kitchens, frying ranges etc. if a fire should occur in any of these locations, our system will operate automatically and extinguish the fire.
MacDonald Martin are interested in your safety and as such we will only offer impartial advice to use a gaseous suppression system that suits your fire safety needs. Contact us or give us a call.
