Macdonald Martin Fire Safety consultants have been following fires all over the country this week and are surprised at how many in a short period of time have been caused by weather conditions.
40 tonnes of logs distroyed by Fire due to Gale Force winds
On Monday 23rd May 2011 in Worcestershire 40 tonnes of logs were distroyed after Power Cables were brought down by gale force winds. Fire Fiighters from Worcester and Drontwich attended the fire. Read the full story Logs distroyed by Fire
Sunlight Causes a Fire in Garage
On Monday 23rd May 2011 in Ringshall, near Berkhamsted a Fire started in a residential garage, caused by sunlight shining through the window. By the time the Fire Brigade had arrived, the owners had put out the fire with a hosepipe however, the crew dampened down the area to ensure that all flames had been extinguished. Make Up Mirror Causes Fire
On Saturday 21st May 2011 Fire Crews were called after a make up mirror caused bedroom curtains to set alight in Sharne. The mirror was refecting light onto the curtains which, caused them to set alight. The fire could have caused much more damage to the home however, the couple who were downstairs at the time were alerted by fitted smoke alarms. The couple acted very quickly, dampening the flames with water then, throwing the curtains out of the window.to prevent the fire spreading. Read the full story here Make Up Mirror Causes Fire.
